Giongo ruled incompetent to stand trial

by Trench on April 22nd, 2008

Montcoman charged with wife’s murder found incompetent:
Back in December I posted about Joseph Giongo. He brutally stomped his wife Bernadette to death in front of their 7-year-old child. I originally rushed to judgment thinking this was just another case of domestic violence. It turned out that Joseph Giongo was severely mentally ill and a local mental health facility had released him before he was even remotely close to well.

Yesterday he was found mentally incompetent to stand trial. His status will be reviewed again in 90 days.

The facts of this case point not towards any mental illness that he may or may not have. I do not doubt that he was bipolar or even seemed to be a bit paranoid; but that was not the reason he killed his wife. The reality is his thoughts were lucid at the time of the crime, as the reason for the argument was that he was unemployed as was his wife(the victim) and she was ordering take out for their youngest child and he thought it was a waste of money. He was not thinking irrationally when he argued this…just because he suffers from a Mental Illness does not exonerate him from being punished for his crime. He knew his actions were wrong, before, during and after he committed the crime. At this time what need to be done is for them to place him on a psycotropic medication so that he may assist in his own defense.

    Jade,

I am a family member…he was out of his mind -gone for 3 years prior…Paraniod–delusional, uncontrolled diabetic…who ate bread and water for purification, etc.

This is a man who worked 10-12 hrs for 18 years to support his wife and children. He LOVED THEM!Had an impeccable work record. No domestic violence , etc.

He simply got very sick and no one saw this coming …no one!

So when you characterize this event was borne of a takeout order I then begin to question your sanity or understanding of ALL the facts!
