Ex-State Trooper wants out of jail

by Trench on January 23rd, 2008

Trooper from Indiana wants out of jail:
That’s Indiana, Pennsylvania by the way.

I originally posted about Ex-Trooper Kevin Foley here. He stands accused in the 2006 stabbing murder of Dr. John Yelenic while sleeping with Dr Yelenic’s estranged wife.

Foley’s attorneys have requested that Foley be released on bail while he awaits trial. They claim that he had an exemplary record as a Trooper and is not a flight risk.

I think due to the brutality of the crime he should remain in prison.

Forensic pathologist Dr. Cyril H. Wecht, who performed the autopsy, said that Yelenic was slashed numerous times with a knife before his neck was cut when his head was forced through a window pane in the foyer of his home on South Spring Street. Wecht said Yelenic, 39, bled to death.

Not only that but who would know better on how to avoid prosecution then an ex-law enforcement officer?

I do believe that the person who committed this crime should be in jail. However, I believe that it wasn’t Kevin, and he should be out on bail so that he could spend time with his family. Where’s the proof that he did?

Oh you mean like how John Yelenic is with his family? Oh wait. He can’t be. He’s dead.

As for the evidence how about this?

Surveillance video at two businesses showed that a vehicle matching Foley’s was near Yelenic’s home around the time Yelenic was killed, Corbett said.

Bloody shoeprints found at the scene came from an Asics sneaker — which is a brand that Foley often bought via the company’s discount program for police, according to the grand jury.

A fellow trooper testified to the grand jury that Foley began wearing a different brand of running shoes after Yelenic’s death.

Also, state police investigators found a sample under Yelenic’s fingernail that matched Foley’s DNA, according to the grand jury.
